Lo studio di architettura The Ranch Mine ha creato “White Dates”, una casa
situata a Phoenix in prossimità dell’iconica White Gates di Al Beadle.
Il nome stesso “White Dates” è un omaggio all’importante eredità del
modernismo degli anni ’50 di Beadle e fa riferimento alla presenza di una palma
da dattero che segna l’ingresso della casa.
La disposizione degli ambienti è stata studiata per offrire una
vista panoramica sulla montagna di Camelback, la zona living con porte a tutta
altezza che si aprono sui patii anteriore e posterior, crea un connubio
armonioso tra interno ed esterno.
Il design del patio si ispira
chiaramente allo stile distintivo della più illustre vicina.
I patii
esterni e i percorsi sono stati pavimentati con pietra di fiume, mentre
l’ingresso principale è enfatizzato da una singola palma da dattero che spunta
da un’apertura triangolare verso il cielo, richiamando il celebre ingresso del
municipio di Palm Springs progettato da Albert Frey.
Motivi decorativi ispirati alle foglie di palma ritornano in tutta la
casa, come ad esempio i dettagli lignei dietro il bar e una parete divisoria
dallo stile modernista nell’area del salotto formale.
Gli interni presentano una scelta cromatica quasi minimalista. Pavimenti
in cemento, intonaco nei bagni e una combinazione di mobili in noce, quercia
bianca e armadiature nere opache creano un’atmosfera di eleganza senza tempo.
White Dates: A Tribute to the Modernist Icon
The architecture firm The Ranch Mine has created “White Dates,” a house
located near Phoenix’s iconic White Gates, designed by Al Beadle. The name
itself, “White Dates,” pays homage to Beadle’s significant legacy in 1950s
modernism and makes reference to a date palm tree that marks the entrance of
the house.
The layout of the spaces has been carefully planned to offer panoramic views
of Camelback Mountain. The living area, featuring full-height doors that open
to the front and rear patios, creates a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor
living, the patio design is clearly inspired by the distinctive style of the
renowned neighbor.
Exterior patios and pathways have been paved with river stone, while the main
entrance is accentuated by a single date palm emerging from a triangular
opening towards the sky, reminiscent of the iconic entrance of Palm Springs
City Hall designed by Albert Frey.
Decorative motifs inspired by palm leaves can be found throughout the house,
including wooden details behind the bar and a modernist-style partition wall
in the formal living area.
The interior design showcases an almost minimalist color palette, allowing the
grandeur of the mountain and mid-century design elements to take center stage.
Concrete floors, plaster in the bathrooms, and a combination of walnut, white
oak, and matte black cabinetry create a timeless atmosphere of elegance.
